Why so much?
Like running 14 restaurants
FLCK kitchen operating budgets run around $300,000 USD per year. Food isn't our only expense. Everything needed to operate kitchens costs money. It's as if we were running 14 restaurants and all costs apply, except salary. Remember, we are volunteers.
We offer sponsorship opportunities to support kitchens for the expenses of a day, a week, a month or a year. Or you can sponsor multiple kitchens for a time period. Sponsorship could also mean construction of a new kitchen in one of the many areas that are currently underserved.
What sponsorship covers
Earmark it for any kitchen, pantry or vehicle expense
- Food for the period you select, even for just one day at one kitchen
- Lights, gas and water
- Maintaining, repairing or replacing freezers, refrigerators, stoves, gas tanks and water tanks
- Pots and pans, plates and cups, and utensils for cooking, serving and dining
- Tables and chairs for the dining room, and replacement water filters
- Maintenance and repair of equipment or the building
- Groceries for the monthly despensas for our kitchen volunteers
- Maintaining the passenger van and cargo van
- Rent and utilities at our office and pantry
- Our back to school backpack drive, winter blanket drive and hurricane preparedness
